500 babies each year need special care from East Surrey Hospital at the very start of their lives. Since 2020, your donations, and a major investment by Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (SASH) has transformed the neonatal unit which cares for these babies and their families.  With your help, we want to do more for families of premature or unwell babies here in Surrey and Sussex. 

We are now asking for your help to transform an overnight room for parents of premature or unwell babies to stay alongside their baby before they are well enough to go home.   

Inspired by Olive, who is now 6, and spent the first 3 months of her life in the neonatal unit, Olive's Appeal supports the neonatal unit at East Surrey Hospital. Your donations have helped provide five state of the art incubators for our smallest patients, to decorate the whole unit with a calming rainforest theme, as well as to transform an empty room into a beautiful new family room for parents to step away from the clinical environment. 

Can you help us make overnight stays more comfortable for new parents? 

We now hope to raise the funds to enhance the overnight rooms where parents stay alongside their new baby. Making these clinical rooms feel more homely for the parents, whilst still caring for our smallest patients.

How else will donations help?

Alongside enhancing this overnight room, donations will help the neonatal unit team to contrinue to go above and beyond what would otherwise be possible for babies and families here in Surrey and Sussex, by funding additional equipment, or ideas which help make people's stay in the neonatal unit as comfortable as it can be. 

Donations in the neonatal unit fund are designated for use to enhance care for babies and families in the neonatal unit at SASH NHS Trust. Any donations in the fund which arent or cannot be used for this purpose would be used to support other charitable activities for patients and staff across SASH NHS Trust.
